The musk ox is the last relative of the big Ice Age creatures. They used to live in similar habitats as the mammut, but most of them left this earth 4000 years ago. Luckily, there are still a few small herds to be found in the mountainous areas of Jämtland and Härjedalen in Sweden (where the artist is born) and barren areas of Norway and Canada. 
 
The musk ox is an impressive beast to see with its 2,5 meter length and 500 kg of wild fur and horns.
